started before 8:00 this morning and according to what police are telling us, they brought a person, this hostage, from somewhere else to the bank. what does all this tell you? >> well, chris, first of all, my background is as an fbi agent and haostage negotiator and i have been involved in bank hostage situations in the past. when they bring someone to the bank it suggests probably one of two things. number one, they had kidnapped someone, the robbers, whoever they are, had kidnapped someone and were trying to force him or her to get money out of the bank's atm. we call those rapid robberies or quick robberies sometimes. the second is that it may be someone who either works for the bank or who is known at the bank and they used that person to get into the bank at 8:00, realized the bank doesn't open until 9:00. but if they get in at 8:00, that would really give the robbers, unfortunately, inside the bank before customers would start to come. as you know, chris, banks also have television, tv sets and, of course, msnbc is aware of that and i think will be very guarded in anything we

associated with this situation. and as you mentioned, here's how it all started. the fbi is telling us that earlier today this bank teller was kidnapped from his home near kendall by three robbers who strapped a suspected bomb to his chest and brought him here to this bank of america where he works and got money from him. once they got what they needed, they got what they wanted, they took off in a stolen red ford mustang. police are now actively searching for them as we speak. as for the teller, incredibly, tamron, he's okay at this hour. the device was taken off of him. he was led out of the bank at about 11:30 today. at this point police are not releasing his identity, and they are still questioning him because they're not quite ready to say whether he was innocent in all of this or whether he may have been involved in some way. the suspected bomb was left inside the bank, and authorities have deemed it safe. thankfully, nobody was hurt here today, and no other employees here were held hostage. three robbers who strapped a bomb to this bank teller's chest and stole money from this b

negotiator for the fbi. this is brand-new video just coming in to us now, clint, from their coral gables in florida. give us your sense of the situation. our nbc station there in miami was reported it starred last night with a domestic dispute. >> not too surprising, contessa, a situation like this gets very confused. there were multiple reports today, as you suggest, a domestic dispute last night. there was also reports that there was a home invasion, a hostage taking that a bank teller was forced to wear an alleged explosive device on his body, and had entered the bank. there were also reports of multiple bank robbers so this is flying left and right, but, supposedly, the fbi, earlier this morning, indicated to their knowledge that one person had entered the bank wearing a bomb about 11:30 or a half an hour ago. we do know that a shirtless man had exited the bank, was in handcuffs and was in police custody and that the bomb squad was on the scene supposedly evaluating whether there was a device inside the bank, if that device was actually a bomb, and they are spriting separate the bad
